Selling a piece of your childhood

Remember when you were a kid and you get pressie when you do well in exams, during Christmas, birthdays or a surprise from your rich aunt? When J told me he got this as a gift in the 80's i could have imagined how he must have ripped off the packaging with much eager and excitement. Without fail, ripping off the toy's packaging thrills every kid till this day. As adults, we do enjoy ripping off "packaging" as well (*grin*), but am sure it's not the packaging of toys.

20 years down the road, we look at our childhood belongings with great sense of nostalgia, but as we grow and understand the value of money, when the price is right its goodbye to that piece of your childhood.

Its new owner beckons but with much to do still... cause it look like crap now.

So the process of purifying-old-crap is carried out. Here are the instructions:

1. Dismantle the set and steal borrow your housemates/ brother/ sister/ wife/ gf's (as long as its not your own) toothbrush.

2. Soak it into hydrochloric acid (preferably neat).

3. Brush every single piece with force.

4. Rinse it with pure water.

4. Dry it with your housemate/ brother/ sister/ wife/ gf's (keyword: not yours) bath towel and remember to ask permission first.

5. Re-fix it using your imagination (This might take hours or years depending on IQ) Voila! As good as new.

6. Say goodbye to your friend's childhood.

Time Zapper

Ever caught in the situation where an hour feels like eternity? No matter its waiting for your flight boarding, waiting for your gf doing her shopping or waiting for the bloody doctor in the clinic, I just wish to fast forward time whenever i'm caught in these situations.

Now there's a remedy, at least it applies to me - Championship Manager(CM). As of now, i'm 50 hours into strategizing my next tactics to beat AC Milan and preparing a swoop for Thiery Henry, amongst other tasks. An hour clicking away feels like 10 minutes, i'm not joking you. This is my third run at CM, first exposure was back in 2000, then 2002. All has the same effects on me, it gets me glued on the monitor.

I'm not really an avid gamer, but CM is my cup of tea. As before , i know i'll get bored of it eventually and thus revert back to me normal routines (before the next wave of CM-ing few years down).

To a guy, gaming is a time zapper, to a gal its a BF stealer.

Jude

Too often than not, movie goers would like happy love stories where couples live happily ever after. It’s a propaganda embedded into our brains ever since we’re old enough to understand fairy tales.

As a cynic, this is what I see as the truth; let’s take for example arguably the most pirated-merchandised-love-story ever – Titanic. As we know, Jack and Rose were madly in love but tragically Jack was frozen to death. With that, Rose’s love for him is forever in her memory. It is the true definition of “till death do us part”.

What if Jack would have survived? Emm…. Of course they will be elated and have many more sex after that and subsequently get married and have kids….BUT, one year later you’ll probably see Rose sobbing away because Jack has not been home for a month cause he’s busy getting into Rosie’s panties on board of TitAnus (c’mon, Jack’s a smooth talker).

Ok, philosophy aside, I caught a glimpse of the movie Jude couple of weeks ago on VCD (yes, it’s that old) and I have to say this movie is one of my favorite love movies. First time I watch it was more than 10 years ago. Though I remembered it was a good movie, I tend to loose touch on how my feeling then was. Upon watching it again I felt the cold chill again and all I can say is it re-impacted me the same way it did 10 years ago. I do prefer love stories to end tragically but what Jude offered is something tragic beyond the ordinary.
